During September 2008 the Shoe repair industry got on its bikes & cycled for recycling by riding Felicity Kendall & Mark Cavendish's shoes from Aberdeen to Portsmouth in a round Britain challenge & raised our targeted Ł20,000 for Children in Need during national shoe repair week.from Friday 5th September to Tuesdays 9th September 2008.

Chris Hoy, Said:

“The efforts Cutting Edge are going to in aid of Children in Need are amazing. I dedicate a lot of time to cycling and it has long been my life, but the people taking part in this event are the opposite. The majority have never cycled a long distance before now so this will be a great achievement for all involved. I love to hear when more people are taking up cycling and send everyone involved in the cycle challenge my support, I hope it’s a great success.”

The route was sectioned into 20 mile stages & to maximise the sponsorship & publicity potential the cyclists or teams of cyclists completed each stage to relay the shoes to the finish line.

CUTTING EDGE EXHIBITION - AUCTION

Some of the equipment used during the challenge was Auctioned at the cutting edge exhibition at wickstead park on 21st September 2008.

the auction included

2 of the bikes, laptop computers, satnave systems & mobile phones.

It raised Ł1020 towards the total.

Chris Wilson completed the Berlin Marathon on Sunday & the money he raised has gone towards the cycling challenge total.

Chris completed the run in 5h 19m 24s and appeared quite happy to have beaten his brother
